Two and a half years ago, when I saw Alain Corneau’s Crime d’amour, I enjoyed the performances of Kristin Scott-Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier, but remember thinking the directing was flat and that what this sub-Hitchcockian scenario really needed was a flashier, more Expressionist mise en scène to make it pop. Events have now conspired to make me think perhaps there is a God after all, because here comes Passion, an English language remake of Corneau’s psychothriller directed by Mr Flashy Sub-Hitchcock himself – Brian de Palma.
Forget the disappointing Black Dahlia, derailed and diluted by catastrophic casting of just about everyone except Aaron Eckhart, or the Faux Found Footage of RedactedPassion is a welcome return to the elements of Continental Brian, previously laid out for our delectation in the underrated Femme Fatale. Beautiful women in lingerie? Tick. Preposterous rococo plot which collapses after about, oh, five seconds’ analysis? Tick. Lipstick and nail varnish? Fuck-me (and-break-my-ankle) shoes in scarlet crocodile or emerald suede? Crazy camera angles, baroque lighting effects, bonkers split screen? Dream sequences so indistinguishable from the dreamlike ambience of the film itself that you can’t tell where they stop or start? De Palma pastiching himself pastiching Hitchcock? Tick, tick, tick.

Ladies and gentlemen, in the Blonde Corner we have Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls Regina-to-the-max-mode as Christine, unscrupulous dragon lady boss of a super-slick advertising agency in Berlin. She wears the Big Trousers, literally. Facing off against her in the Brunette corner we have black-suited Noomi Rapace as Isabelle, the talented protégée for whose idea Christine takes credit, leading to an escalating war of boardroom attrition involving shared boyfriends, betrayal, public humiliation and eventually, yup, murder. Also,
girl-on-girl kissing, gratuitous black stockings, sexy    smoking and great earrings.
But wait, there’s more! Evidently Corneau’s Blonde versus Brunette scenario wasn’t enough for De Palma, for the naughty old poodle has added a Redhead – German actress Karoline Herfurth, who played the Lisbeth Salander-like tyro vampire in the splendid Wir sind die nacht (We Are the Night). She holds her own against the film’s two heavy hitters as Dani, Isabelle’s assistant, who turns the film’s unromantic triangle into an uneven square. It’s only the fourth angle – a shared boyfriend called Dirk – who lets the side down; Paul Anderson was enigmatic and intriguing as Colonel Sebastian Moran in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, but he’s miscast here, not to mention sloppily directed, and it’s hard to see what either Christine or Isabelle sees in him. But then, one gets the impression De Palma wasn’t terribly interested in the male characters. It’s the girl stuff that interests him. And why not?

It’s a film of surfaces and reflections, played out against a backdrop of glassy modern architecture and Pino Donaggio’s music, which at times echoes not just his own score for Dressed to Kill but Ennio Morricone’s for The Thing. There is no redeeming moral element, no insight into the human condition, no social comment, no resonance beyond that of a half-remembered dream, no nourishment for the soul. Unless, of course, your soul gets off, as mine does, on quintessentially De Palma-esque games of doubling, on the best accessorised exercise in backstabbing bitchery since Olivier Assayas’s DemonLover, on the best nervous breakdown in a swanky motor since Lana Turner had a hysterical screaming fit at the wheel of her car in The Bad and the Beautiful, on Bette Davis versus Joan Crawford-style melodramatic point-scoring, on the look of things, on camera moves, on film itself.

Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Split? 'It's Over,' Says Report

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are reportedly "over," according to a new report from the New York Post.
Multiple sources allegedly told the Post's Page Six that Cyrus and Hemsworth have split. “Miley and Liam are done; it’s over," the source said. "She likes to party really hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him.”
This is apparently not the first time the singer and her "Hunger Games" hunk have parted ways. “They have broken up before, and are broken up again now. There was drama because she suspected he had a wandering eye. And she recently tweeted a denial that he cheated," another source told Page Six. “While Miley has insisted they are still together, right now they are very, very much apart."
Although the "Decisions" singer is in Los Angeles, Hemsworth is half a world away in Australia visiting his brother, Chris Hemsworth; sister-in-law, Elsa Pataky; and his niece, India Rose, according to Us Weekly.
People magazine reported that Hemsworth headed Down Under to "have a break" from Cyrus. "It doesn't mean that they have split. Miley says they are still together," a source said. "Liam did fly home [to Australia on March 1] so they could have a break."
Talk of a Cyrus-Hemsworth split began floating around after the former "Hannah Montana" star was spotted without her engagement ring. Although she insisted that her romance is fine, Cyrus is allegedly angry over rumors Hemsworth cheated on her with January Jones at a pre-Oscars party.
The 23-year-old actor was photographed in the back of a car with the "Mad Men" actress after they attended a soiree at the Chateau Marmont. Neither Hemsworth nor Jones has commented on the cheating gossip. When TMZ approached the 35-year-old actress in an airport recently, she ignored all questions regarding the tryst.

Report: Judge Judy sued over expensive dishes

Judge Judy is reportedly being sued over some very pricey dishes she allegedly bought from one of her producers.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Randy Douthit sold Judge Judith Sheindlin china after his split from wife Patric Jones. The suit states the tableware bought by the judge was worth more than $500,000 but she bought it for $50,000. The lawsuit claims Sheindlin and Douthit entered into a fraudulent scheme to prevent Jones from obtaining the dishes in the divorce.

Jones is seeking the dishes or their value. But Judge Judy told TMZ to her knowledge no such lawsuit exists.

"I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don't owe this lady a cent,” she said. “And if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, we would all be a lot better off.

Did Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split?

Miley Cyrus has split with her fiancé, “Hunger Games” star Liam Hemsworth, multiple sources tell The New York Post.
Hemsworth has jetted off to his native Australia because, a source told the Post: “He needed to get away from Los Angeles and spend some time with his brother and friends.”

One source said, “Miley and Liam are done; it’s over. She likes to party really hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him.”
Another source added, “They have broken up before, and are broken up again now. There was drama because she suspected he had a wandering eye. And she recently tweeted a denial that he cheated.
“While Miley has insisted they are still together, right now they are very, very much apart,” the insider said.
Amid rumors of a split, Cyrus tweeted on March 6, “I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it. I didn’t call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining.” She also wrote that her new album will “shut everyone up.”

Filthy Rich: Hacker Exposes Personal Finances Of Ashton Kutcher, Jay-Z, Hillary Clinton

Ever wondered what Ashton Kutcher’s bank account totals? What about how much Jay-Z spends on his plastic each month? Well, a mysterious hacker has ensured those details are a whole lot easier to find after somehow breaching security, obtaining the financial records of some of the biggest celebrity names on the planet, and posting all the details online. The LAPD is frantically trying to track down the hacker who supplied material to the website
We can tell you now: Ashton Kutcher has a nice little kitty, while Jay-Z, Britney Spears, Donald Trump, Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hulk Hogan aren’t short of a dime or two, as you’d expect. The website’s main page, titled The Secret Files, features a picture of a zombie-looking girl. Music from Showtime’s ‘Dexter’ plays in the background as visitors are encouraged to click a celebrity name to discover their home addresses, social security numbers, mortgage accounts, bank accounts and credit card statements.
A series of phone numbers were also posted, though most went to production companies, finance firms and the like. The site, still online on Wednesday morning (March 13, 2013), features the tagline, “If you believe that God makes miracles, you have to wonder if Satan has a few up his sleeve.”
The search is on for the hacker behind the website, which has an Internet suffix originally form the Soviet Union. Los Angeles police commander Andrew Smith said the LAPD would also investigate the posting of info on any celebrities who live in the city and request and inquiry.
